The Galaxy S21 series is one of the ambitious launches that Samsung has done, and all three phones are doing well in the market as far as reception is concerned. However, Samsung is also planning on launching the Galaxy S21 FE in a couple of months along with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3.
The Fan Edition smartphones are usually the same as the original but with some corners cut to keep the price down. Last year’s Galaxy S20 Fan Edition brought a flat screen along with a plastic back, but considering how the base Galaxy S21 this year is already offering these things, I’m not really sure how Samsung will be cutting more corners.
This year Samsung is planning to launch the Galaxy S21 FE which is going to take on the OnePlus 9T. Yeah, both OnePlus and Samsung launches T and FE variants which basically features max out specs but at low price. They trimmed down the design and automation components cost go low resulting in not so expensive flagship.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Specification
So we don’t know much about the OnePlus 9T, except it is coming with a 120Hz LTPO display but we do know about its rival the Samsung S21 FE. So this is your final look to the S21 FE courtesy Evan Blass and all I can say is it looks like a combination of Galaxy S21 and S21 plus with more rounded corners, plastic back but with metal frame cause we can see the antenna lines in there.
We already know what the device will look like thanks to the Evan Blass renders and it basically looks identical to the Galaxy S21. We also know the specifications of the handset and it’s also almost similar to the S21 except it offers a little bigger screen size and a little smaller battery.
Now best part about this S21 FE is display. Because Samsung will be using 6.5 inches super Amoled display this along with 120Hz refresh rate and those bezel look really slim. The Samsung S21 Fe got Geekbench recently with Snapdragon 888 CPU and some leaks are Samsung may not launch any Exynos variant this year. That sounds right good going Samsung.
Geekbench also shows S21 FE aka SMG99OB has 6GB of base RAM and runs Android 11 out of the box.
Samsung always use top notch camera and fan edition and the S21 FE won’t be any different. So we have a 12 megapixel main module is super wide and finally telephoto lens which is impressive similar to what we saw in the S21 and S21 plus.
There is 4500 battery with 25 watts of fast charging and this along with wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. So this surely sounds delicious.
It will have IP68 certification, stereo speakers and Samsung Knox. With these specs this is surely gonna be an amazing phone.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Price
The one thing that we have not heard so far is the price, and although people were expecting that the phone is going to cost the same as its predecessors the S20 FE, the latest report talks about something else, and optimistic. According to a report from South Korea, the Galaxy S21 FE is expected to be priced between 700,000 won to 800,000 won which if you translate is roughly around $625 to $715.
For comparison, the Galaxy S20 FE last year was priced at 900000 won in South Korea. So this means the S21 FE will be $100 to $200 cheaper than the S20 FE which is great news. To give you some more context, the 5G version of the S20 FE last year had a $700 price tag, so considering the report, I would expect Samsung to price the S21 FE at $599 which is a good price since the S21 still costs a couple of hundred dollars more.
Samsung will be announcing One UI 4.0 late this year and S21 FE will surely get this update soon because Samsung is really doing great in terms of rolling out software updates. I can tell you guys you can trust them. The Samsung S series gets monthly patches before pixel devices so they are going awesome.
The OnePlus 9t is coming with nearly same specifications but with glass back. We may see variable display to save battery and there will be wireless charging too because we saw same in the standard 9 and if oneplus want to win against S21 FE they have to use telephoto lens and IP68 certification.
