At this point we know literally everything there's to know about Samsung's next flagships, the Galaxy S21 series from official renders, official trailers to even review videos. But how Samsung is going to price these handsets is still a mystery.
Yes, we've heard in the past that Samsung will reduce the prices of the S21 lineup to better compete with Apple's iPhone 12 variants but that information came from a not so known sources. But today we have two reputable sources revealing the European prices for the S21 lineup and those are the Galaxy club and 91mobiles.
According to them, the vanilla Galaxy S21 will start at €849 while it's €1,049 for the S21 Plus and if you decide to buy the S21 Ultra, you'll have to shell out €1,399. These are the prices for the base 128GB variants. Now compared to the Galaxy S20 lineup, these are better prices.
I mean here is the side by side comparison of prices of the S20 and S21 series. Samsung is making some effort to make its entry flagship S21 and S21+ devices a little more affordable by cutting corners here and there. But surprisingly the S21 Ultra is actually €50 more expensive this time, a strategy I don't understand.
I mean yeah the increase in price could be due to the improved camera module and the S Pen support. But we're still in the pandemic and I don't think it's a wise move to increase the price of the S21 Ultra. One of the reasons for the poor sales of the S20 lineup is the ridiculous price and it seems Samsung is repeating the same mistake again. But hey, at least the S21 and S21+ are 150 euros cheaper this time which should soften the blow a bit.
We don't have the US and UK prices yet but based on the European prices it's safe to assume the numbers will be identical in the US while it should look like this in the UK. We also have the official wallpapers of the Galaxy S21. Not just static but live wallpapers as well.
That said, up until now we've seen a lot of unofficial benchmark scores of the latest Snapdragon 888 that goes inside the Galaxy S21 but today to demonstrate the chipset's capabilities, Qualcomm has run the chipset across a series of benchmarks including the Geekbench, Antutu and more. These test the CPU and GPU, as well as AI use cases, and were performed three times using the default settings on a Snapdragon 888 reference design, and as you can see it scores 1130 in single and 3800 in multicore in geekbench while it's 740K on Antutu.
Ice Universe believes the Exynos 2100 will have better scores which could well be the first chipset to cross the 4000 multi-core score beating even the mighty A14 bionic chip.
